Tengku Sharizal is not yet assured a place in Contender Asia Season 2, like we had expected. In trying to make head and tails of it, I found a comment made by Zahari Ahmad of http://boxxtomoi.blogspot.com. Below is a related extract of his comment:-

<<  it was a great match up by WMC. But it was a misleading info given to Malaysian. Malaysian should be informed earlier that the winner of last Saturday’s fight will have to go through other qualifiers before they can earn a spot in CONTENDER SEASON 2. Anyway, season 2 will not materialize in 2008.

The discussion to organize Malaysia qualifier was done way back in January 2008 when I visited mr. Stephan Fox in Bangkok. It was agreed upon that the tournament will be held in august but he made it clear that the winner will have to go through qualifiers and we don’t know how many more qualifier that our champion has to fight before he earn a place in season 2.

On the Super 4, Stephan called me and asked me to let Mandate organize the Super 4 with me selecting the boxers. And I agreed under the spirit of Muay Thai. I chose 3 boxers: Hashim, Tengku and Khoo. The other one ( Bernard " Headhunter" Radin ) was included by the request of Mandate from Singapore (the organizer). >>

Thanks Grake. My guess he didnt come out for the 3rd round, huh?

Leonard is really aggressive, imposing his will. But Zach did pretty good to knock him down twice.

Did the announcer really say "NO HOLDS BARRED" or did i hear wrong? I LOL'ed!

Kinda outta topic but just watched K1 Max via streaming..a holy shit moment. Im still in shock!

Agree with FightGeek; Leonardo was really aggressive but Zach didn't take it lying down. Glad the ref called it, he could have been hurt really bad! Here are some great shots taken from Galvin Tan.

Was at the fight.  Really good stuff - particularly impressed with the Sean Wright vs. Sirichai "Singha Siri" bout. Thought that Sirichai gave an excellent showcase of Muay Thai knees and high kicks. And Yoddy is actually around my height :)   -->Really inspirational if you're one of those wannabes like me.

Even managed to meet almost all the guys and took photos with them after the fight. Would you believe that they all seem very decent and down to earth.

But somebody should tell the organiser to tell us who is the defending champion (and who is the challenger for the title) before the bout starts. Thought the defending champion will wear the belt into the ring..

For those who missed the fight, you'll get to watch the delayed telecast on ASTRO SUPERSPORTS in August! Mandate International will be organising THE CONTENDER ASIA SUPERFIGHTS GRAND PRIX in December 2008.

That Leonard is a crazy guy. He was moving like a tiger, but Zach did really good work. His two punches were more effective than Leonards four punches.

If we're speaking about an outlook he is a very interesting character. Just like some kind of a hero from Tekken or some other martial art video game or jRPG ;) In programs like Contender we need that kind of interesting characters so the show is more "colorfull". Just like in season 1 Stephen choose Rafik for one team captain- knowing his character. He didn't choose him because of his strenght, we both know that in the loft were many other fighters, stronger than him.

Representing Thailand will be Kaewm Fairtex  as Yodsaenklai tell me.TCA  Season 2 will be in either late nov or early Dec but as for shooting wise not sure whether it will be in Spore again or in Thailand.Looking forward for Season 2....THE CHALLENGE IS GOING TO GETS TOUGH!!!!!!

Isn't him too light? He fights in 58 kgs - 60 kgs range, as stated on the fairtex website.... Kaoklai too heavy....

I myself think so too but do not jugde a book by its cover.I watch him in fight with a match and guess wat he knocked down a fighter from Lanna camp who weighs 70kg.I WAS AMAZED juz 4 round less than 2 minutes. But i think in this TCA 2 the selection will be tough as more countries involved including Japan and Hong Kong.Well the CHALLENGE GOING TO GETS TOUGH......

Tengku Sharizal ( Malaysia ) has NOT YET confirm his place in Contender Asia Season 2 despite emerging victorious in " Malaysia muay thai superfights".

He will have to go through yet other qualifiers before earning a spot in CONTENDER SEASON 2; i.e. which is why I have not included him in the list....( sorry, easyboy )

Bernard Radin, however has recently confirmed his Contender spot through an International Qualifier in the King’s Cup event held in honour of His Majesty the King of Thailand’s birthday.

If you are refering to the trailer of the main show, its simply called The Contender Theme Song by Hans Zimmer. However there are several version of the song that you can download from his site. Cheers!

if all these fighters from season 1 are able to be in the qualifiers why isnt YOD fairtex their he is the winner and if all the others can qualify surley he can and i would of thought that thailand would of had more represenatives for them as it is their number 1 sport other countrys have more than 1 fighter for them

Jordanmc111, at this point of time, your guess is as good as anyone else with regards to how many fighters / fighters per country will be participating in Contender Asia Season Two.

As per the format of the Contender, I seriously doubt that Yod will be allowed to represent Thailand again in CA2; tis to make way for others to have a chance to take part, assuming CA follows in the tradition of the original boxing series, The Contender.

I agree w nyghtsky  Seriously cant be Yod will be allowed to be in the CA2 again.Since he is e winner for e CA1.Only e contest for maybe The Contender  Asia (WINNERS N RUNNER UP SPECIAL)  allowed to be qualify for e contest. It is rite that  cant be e winner be taking part again in e same contest only other type of contest. As u can see or know all e CA1 fighters taking part in their camp contest which means e match among other fighters not for money but for their own friendly match agree between their camp manager.

Yes but if it is at the same weight the current champion should be defending his belt thats how i see it if he is number one and the champion he should be put in to defend it to see if he is still number 1 that is if it is at the same weight as last time
